From “Born in a Super-Storm” to Over 1.7 Million Lives Secured
LifeSecure was “born in a storm.” As a frightened seven-year-old boy in the bullseye of a Category 4 (130 MPH) super-typhoon, I quickly learned the importance of disaster preparedness. The seed was sewn for what later became LifeSecure, an innovative company dedicated to helping “Secure Your Life” in any emergency or disaster.
My name is David Scott, Founder & President of LifeSecure. I was born in the United States, but grew up in the Philippines, where my family and I experienced the devastation of Super-Typhoon Yoling. I tried to stay warm and dry by changing my clothes several times that terrifying day, until all I owned was soaked from the sheets of rain that penetrated our home.
The eye of the storm passed directly over our neighborhood, and my family narrowly escaped severe injury or death as the typhoon battered our home. We didn’t escape the aftermath for which we were totally unprepared. For two weeks we had no electricity. We ate only what we had on hand. We lined up at a community pump to get water in buckets, and we boiled it on our charcoal barbecue grill to purify it.
We determined never to be caught unprepared again. We responsibly prepared for whatever emergency or disaster might come someday. This preparation brought me through many subsequent disasters including typhoons, floods, earthquakes, blizzards, severe storms, blackouts, a chemical plant explosion, a volcanic eruption, political violence (including riots, shootings, kidnappings, terrorist bombings), the imposition of martial law, and a global pandemic.
Over 20 years ago, I founded LifeSecure with two friends, Larry Ginsberg and Dave Hewitt, just a few months before Hurricane Katrina taught America that one can go hungry and thirsty or even die before help arrives. Our mission is to help you “Secure Your Life” in any emergency or disaster with unique emergency, medical, and disaster survival kits and carts designed for mobility, functionality, and dependability.
